This VHUB2 completion kit is a complement to the VHUB2 stand-alone base unit (the VHUB2 base unit is NOT included with this kit, and must be purchased separately). When paired with one VHUB2 unit, you’ll have everything you need to wire a Les Paul or other similar Gibson-style guitar (2 volume/2 tone). The components are the finest available, and we include the necessary wire to make all of the connections.
We have several varieties of VHUB2 completion kits. This one includes standard tone pots with .022µF capacitors, which is the value Gibson has used for many years in most of their Les Pauls, ES-335s, SGs, and other similar guitars. All of the pots in this kit have 1/2" bushing lengths (the threaded part), so they'll be long enough to get through the top of nearly any rear-routed guitar and still leave you with enough threads for all of the appropriate washers. Read more about pot bushing lengths here.
Because guitar thicknesses vary, we’ve included the shorter version of Switchcraft’s toggle switch (dimensions here). This will fit in many of the thinnest guitars, as well as working in thicker guitars like Les Pauls.
Our kits use components with UTS threads. If you have a guitar with metric components (most imported guitars), you’ll likely need to enlarge the holes in your guitar. This can be done with a reamer or a stepped unibit, check out this doc for more details. Unless you have a drill press and the ability to firmly clamp your instrument to its table, a twist drill should not be used, or you’ll risk substantial damage to your instrument.
Knobs and switch tip not included. The switch has an 8-32 thread, import switch tips will not fit. We sell genuine Switchcraft tips for these switches - in three colors - on our website.
Our pots have a 24-tooth knurl. Most of the pots on imported guitars have 18 teeth, and their knobs will not fit on our pots. Gibson-style molded knobs are made by a number of different companies around the world, and they typically have the teeth molded in. Some are made with 24 teeth (Gibson), others with 18 teeth (Epiphone), so if you intend to use knobs you already have, then count the teeth and make sure your knobs have 24. If you try to force 18-tooth knobs onto 24-tooth pots, you are likely to push the pot shafts through the backs of the pots. This is NOT covered under warranty.
